Recruiting Gets 'Zone Coverage'

Posted Apr 15, 2003

TheInsiders.com goes to 'Zone Coverage,' with all of its nationally renowned recruiting experts and scouts on one supersite.

SEATTLE –Featuring what arguably is the greatest collection of high-school talent evaluation and college-recruiting expertise assembled on the Internet, the national recruiting site at TheInsiders.com (TheInsidersRecruiting.com) has launched “Zone Coverage,” a consolidation of all regional coverage on one supersite.

In addition to the insights of Jamie Newberg, the national recruiting editor for TheInsiders.com, “Zone Coverage” will feature the work of the industry’s most respected experts – Scott Kennedy and Tom Culpepper in the Southeast Zone, David Garvin, Josh Clark and Stacey Dean in the Heartland Zone, Greg Biggins and Chris Fetters in the West Zone, Chris Pool and Duane Long in the Midwest Zone, and Mike Bakas, Miller Safrit and Steve Curry in the Atlantic Zone.

All content and regional message boards produced produced by those renowned experts, previously found on regional sites such as BorderWars.com and PacWestFootball.com, now will appear at TheInsidersRecruiting.com, along with new regional recruiting message boards, maintained and moderated by the associated experts. In addition to player reports, player detail pages in the Scout database and player Hot News, some of the other region-specific content includes regional Hot 100 lists and all-region teams. All will now appear on the national site.

“We’ve always felt that we had the best, most in-depth and authentic coverage of college-football prospects in the industry,” said Jim Heckman, CEO of TheInsiders.com. “Now to have them all on one supersite is a great boon to our users. We have an all-star cast that is dedicated to working together as a team and to having personal knowledge of all prospect and who have access to sources of critical information and background that no one else does. It is a winning formula for the fans of great recruiting news and evaluations.”

Because of exclusive access to Nike Football and Elite 11 quarterback camps, TheInsiders.com is the only network that offers authentic heights, weights and speeds. The network is the official recruiting expert for SportsIllustrated.com, with whom it produces the SI.com/TheInsiders.com High School All-America team, and syndicates recruiting information to Yahoo!Sports.

The consolidation of regional coverage at TheInsidersRecruiting.com also will allow the regional experts to manage and support recruiting coverage on team sites within their zones.

“We are going to give fans the best information in the context that they want – that of their favorite teams,” Newberg said. “At the same time, having it all appear on one, national site will give the fans the perspective they often crave. We’re excited to be offering this kind of depth.”
