6-foot-3, 220 pound junior Davonte James has been patiently waiting for his first offer. On Friday afternoon it came out of the Big Ten.
"Purdue offered me," said James. "It was a surprise."
The linebacker doesn't know too much about the Boilermakers but is excited by the interest they've shown him.
"It feels really good to get my first offer. It feels like all my hard work finally paid off."
James recently visited Ohio State and has a couple other visits lined up.
"I will be at Wisconsin on the 17th and Purdue on the 24th."
As for which other schools the LB is hearing from, he says there are too many to name, but a few do stand out.
"Alabama, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Florida State and Wisconsin."
In his junior season, James recorded 105 tackles, one interception, one touchdown and one sack.
