Two of Colorado’s best junior backs, Columbine’s Bernard McDondle and Grand Junction’s Austin Lewis, dueled Friday as Columbine won the first round playoff game 37-20. McDondle, per his m.o., hit on multiple long runs, eventually scoring three times and rushing for 204 yards. Lewis, behind a big offensive line, bullied Columbine for 220 yards.
Dustin Rivas of Horizon hand three scores in a 47-24 win over Rangeview. In his typical versatile fashion, Rivas had two touchdown receptions and a pick six.
Luke Del Rio threw four touchdown passes in a 52-6 dismantling of Legacy. Christian McCaffrey caught two of the touchdown passes and ran in two others.
Tahj Willingham scored four touchdowns in Cherry Creek’s 49-21 win over Brighton.
Grandview QB Reece Weber rushed 11 times for 192 yards in a 40-6 win against Fairview.
Ryan McMahon of Cheyenne Mountain scored four rushing touchdowns in a 62-27 rout of Pueblo South.
Derek Jackson again topped the 300 yards mark for the fourth time this season and the third time in a row as his Pueblo West squad handled Mesa Ridge 44-20.
Chaparral QB Max Kuhns put up 305 passing yards and threw four touchdowns in a win over Rock Canyon.
Jose Cancanon of Arapahoe scored five times and rushed for over 230 yards as his Warriors defeated Heritage 42-7.
Although Thornton lost, Trojan senior RB Keynan Huguley put a stamp on his impressive senior campaign rushing for 384 yards and five scores against Boulder. Huguley ends the season with over 2,100 rush yards and 30 total touchdowns.
