Derek Carr started the scoring with an eight-yard toss to Rashad Evans. It came after Carr heaved a 56-yard prayer to Isaiah Burse a play earlier on 3rd-and-11. Carr completed 15-of-23 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns all in the first half – his fifth game with at least four touchdowns passes.
Dillon Root got into the action catching only his second pass of the season on a trick play with Rouse taking the snap and tossing it to Carr on a reverse who hit Root for a 47-yard touchdown.
Carr spread the scoring around to four different receivers with redshirt freshman Davante Adams leading all receivers with six receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown. Greg Watson scored from a yard out to cap a 21-0 first quarter.
Hawaii answered with a 49-yard Tyler Hadden field goal midway through the fourth quarter. The Warriors recorded just 97 yards of total offense in the first half with just eight coming on the ground on 17 rush attempts.
Adams 10th touchdown pass on the season came on a 45-yard pass from Carr with 3:17 to play in the second quarter. Burse scored the Bulldogs final touchdown on a 31-yard reception with 12 seconds remaining in the first half.
Watson started the second half but he failed to generate much offense. Fresno State totaled 428 yards of offense in the first half but just 52 yards after halftime. He led seven second half drives with five three-and-outs that finished with zero or negative yards. The only scoring came on a 10-play, 60-yard that ended with a 32-yard Quentin Breshears field goal.
Fresno State improves to 7-3, 5-1 in MWC play, and will travel to Nevada (6-3, 3-2) on Saturday.
