Downs Taking Trips

Mountlake Terrace (Wash.) 2014 running back Devante Downs recaps his junior season and upcoming unofficial visits…

Mountlake Terrace (Wash.) 2014 running back Devante Downs had a disappointing end to his junior season, falling in the first round of the playoffs to Kennedy 35-29.

"I felt like I did pretty well with the opportunities that I had," said Downs. "It was a pretty good season. I finished with 1,270 yards and 23 touchdowns. I got a lot of yards after contact and I felt like I was more explosive this year."

Downs holds early offers from Utah and Washington, but plans on taking his time before making a decision.

"I am going to wait until my final offer comes in," said Downs. "Then I will weigh things from there."

While Downs is waiting on a decision, he is collecting as much information as possible.

"This season I went down to a game at Oregon State and I have been to the last two Washington home games," said Downs. "I will be at the Washington game against Utah this weekend."

The 6'3" 215lbs prospect talked about what he looks for on unofficial visits.

"I watch the running back," said Downs. "I see what the coaches call, I watch how the running backs play and I see what would fit me."

While Utah and Washington are the only schools that have offered the junior, many more are keeping tabs on him.

"Missouri is really the only new school talking to me," said Downs. "Then still the same schools, Michigan, Oregon, Oregon State, Nebraska, Arizona State, Colorado State, Washington State and Boise State."
