Kentucky sophomore forward Kyle Wiltjer, who scored a team-high 19 points in the Wildcats' season-opening win over Maryland, was named SEC Player of the Week on Monday.

.
Wiltjer led UK with 19 points on 6-of-9 shoooting from the floor, including going 4-for-6 from beyond the 3-point arc. His four treys set a new career high, as did the three blocked shots on the defensive end of the floor.
The honor is the first in Wiltjer’s career and the first for UK this season. The Wildcats claimed the honor 10 times last season (including six by freshman center Anthony Davis) en route to a 38-2 record and the program's eighth national championship.
The Cats (1-0) return to action Tuesday night against
Duke
in the Champions Classic. Tipoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET and the game will be televised live on ESPN.
