Kansas will get a big boost Tuesday when they meet Michigan State in the Champions Classic in Atlanta, as senior forward Kevin Young will return after missing the past few weeks with a broken bone in his right hand, an injury he suffered in practice on October 25th.
Young brings experience and enhances team chemistry for the Jayhawks, as they prepare to meet a Spartans team that fell 66-62 to Connecticut, Friday night in Germany.
Kansas coach Bill Self looks forward to Young's return, praising him for being the team's best talker. Self said that Young can lead by talking on a team that is quiet by nature. Young will also bring a tenacity that was evident in last year's Final Four team.
"I'm sure he's going to help us. Now, physically, he only weighs 210 pounds or whatever, but he tries so hard," Self said.
Young will help a team that has struggled some through it first three games with two being exhibitions. The team is excited to have him out there in time for the early showdown with the Spartans.
