Florida RB Grant Hearing from Two

Pascoe (Dade City, Fla.) running back Janarion Grant felt his recruitment surge in the last month with renewed interest from two programs. Grant spoke with ScarletReport.com regarding the change in his recruitment and how much he is hearing from Rutgers.

Pasco (Dade City, Fla.) running back Janarion Grant has double-digit scholarship offers, but is only in touch with Rutgers and South Florida following an injury that knocked him out for half the season.

Grant has offers from both programs and said he is in the process of planning official visits to both.

"Rutgers and USF," Grant said on his leaders. "They have been recruiting me the hardest since my injury. They're talking to me the most and everything."

Rutgers recently returned to the picture, Grant said, adding that he speaks weekly with tight ends coach Darnell Dinkins.

"I think he's a really good coach," Grant said. "He'll like hang out with the players and they really like him and connect with him. It's the same with coach [Jerome] Pathon at USF. I have really good relationships with both of them."

Grant said he has been in contact with Rutgers for more than a year and does not remember when his official scholarship offer came.

"I'm not sure exactly when they offered, a while ago, but they kind of just started talking to me again," he said. "It's good because they're a pretty good team and they're telling me they think I'm a great player."

Missing the first half of the season with a leg injury, Grant played in the last three games for Pascoe and said he is 100 percent.

Rutgers is recruiting him strictly as a running back, he said.

"They think I'll improve their team," said Grant, who checks in at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds. "I'll be a big part of their offense in a few years and they see a role for me there. … There are a lot of schools that come at athletes like me and then when they hear you get injured, they kind of write you off I wasn't worried about it, but Rutgers is still there for me. I'm humbled by that." Grant plans on a Signing Day decision, he said.<
