FSNextTV: Ivey Leads the Charge vs BV West
After missing two games with an injury, 2014 linebacker Bradley Ivey returned to the lineup Friday night as Bishop Miege took on Blue Valley West in the Kansas Class 5A Sectional Championship Game. After an action-packed four quarters of action, the game needed double-overtime to reach it's crescendo. After scoring a touchdown to make the score 38-37, BV West Head Coach Scott Wright opted to go for the win with a two-point conversion following a pair of Miege offside penalties. With the football resting inside the one yard line, Jaguar signal caller Ryan Ralston took the snap on a quarterback keeper. He was met at the line of scrimmage by Ivey and the rest of the Stags' defense, and was stopped short of the end zone. Ralston's second effort was not enough, and Miege held on for the win, advancing to the Sub-State Championship Game and a rematch with bitter rival St. Thomas Aquinas. An all-state, all-league, and all-metro selection last season, Ivey led the Eastern Kansas League with 126 tackles in 2012. He was named a finalist this week for the prestigious Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the top lineman or linebacker in the Kansas City area. Ivey's recruitment is heating up, as the junior is receiving mail from Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, and Missouri several times a week. Nebraska, Ohio State, and Notre Dame are also showing continued interest in the Sunflower State prospect.
