Running back Scottie Andrews from Glenbard West in Glen Ellyn, Ill., has become a pretty well known name if you follow Illinois High School football. He has had plenty of big weeks this season for the Hitters on the field.
"I think I have done well this year," Andrews said. "I blocked well and my coaches and family supported me."
He added, "I believe in my team and they have made this possible."
Glenbard West has recorded a perfect 12-0 record on the season and looks to continue that as they take on Lake Zurich in the state semifinals Saturday.
"My team has been the difference, we all get along so well and we just believe in each other and know that we can accomplish anything," Andrews said.
He continued, "It's awesome, an awesome feeling. Knowing that we have one more team to beat to get there -- to the state championship."
Several teams are beginning to notice Andrews on the recruiting front, including one who has reached out to him.
"I got a letter from Vanderbilt and they have asked for my transcript so far," Andrews said.
And there are several other schools he would like to hear from.
"I would like to hear from Big Ten schools, it would be nice because they are close to home," Andrews said.
Something that Andrews hopes to have showcased during his junior season, is his ability to play at the division one level.
"I am quick and set their blocks up well," Andrews said. "I am shaky I have jukes and I can read the holes and have good vision."
