vs. Tech wide receivers Eric Ward and Darrin Moore
Since Tech also employs inside receivers, and is often in four and five wide sets there are other receivers to make sure they get covered. Ward is Seth Doege's security blanket and Moore is his indulgence.
The good news for Cowboys fans is that Brown is really consistent, and has been the last month of the season. It also appears after Justin Gilbert's kickoff return for a touchdown last week, his confidence was bolstered and he is ready to pick up where he left off at the end of last season in the Fiesta Bowl. OSU defensive coordinator Bill Young said Gilbert had a great week of practice.
vs. Texas Tech center Deveric Gallington
and guards Le'Raven Clark and Beau Carpenter
One thing that Texas Tech does a little different with their zone plays is fold block them. The guard will loop (fold) around the center and create a cross block that can often open up a wider gap for the running back to run through.
As a defensive lineman you can drill on this over and over, but it can still catch a defensive tackle off guard. Barnett and Castleman are smart and athletic, and Rogers coming on in the last couple of weeks really helps. Tech's G-C-G will have their hands full.
Edge: OSU defensive tackles Calvin Barnett, James Castleman and Anthony Rogers
Davis has 79 tackles and is equally good on defending passes as he is coming up and playing downhill against the run. He is a smart player that will track quarterbacks.
The best decisionmaker right now for OSU may be Clint Chelf. His lone interception wasn't his fault. J.W. Walsh is always cerebral about things and he will play smart with a little bit of guts. Wes Lunt is always doing some gambling. Davis can make you pay.
Edge: Tech right safety Cody Davis
