5-11 180 pound Virginia point guard Frank Mason signed his National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Kansas, Friday.
Mason is currently a standout at Massanutten Military Academy, in Woodstock, Va.
Before that, Mason played at Petersburg High School where led the state in scoring in 2011 at 27.4 points per game and in 2012 at 27.1 points per contest. During his Petersburg career he scored 1,901 points and the Wave were a combined 78-4. Mason guided the Wave to two state tournament appearances.
“He’s a jet,” Kansas coach Bill Self said in a media release. “Frank is a really, really quick guard. He’s a true point. He can get guys easy baskets. He can break people down, very similar to the way the fans saw Sherron (Collins) break people down off the bounce.”
Mason chose the Jayhawks over Alabama, Maryland, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.
Kansas has signed five to the class of 2013 during the fall signing period so far.
