After rushing for over 1,955 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2011, Walker HS RB Carlton Perkins (6'0,188) is one of state's top uncommitted college prospects. The senior athlete tripped down to Lafayette to watch the Ragin' Cajuns become bowl eligible.
Walker HS RB/CB/WR
Carlton Perkins
is one of Louisiana's most coveted uncommitted athletes remaining in the 2013 Class. The (6'0,188) senior found his way to Lafayette Saturday night to watch the Ragin' Cajuns battle
Western Kentucky
for bowl eligibility. Perkins left a very emotional locker room after the game and came away impressed with what he witnessed at Cajun Field.
"I was really impressed with how close the team is inside the locker room," Perkins stated. After the game I went into the locker room with the team and listened to Coach Hudpseth speak to the team. As a team, they are very close inside the locker room and that is what I'm looking for in a program."
Carlton Perkins also came away impressed with UL athletes
Harry Peoples
and
Terrance Broadway
.
"Harry Peoples is a player," said Carlton. "Coach Rebowe told me they are recruiting me to play his position, the x-receiver since he is a senior. Coach Hudspeth told me I could come in and play that position early and with Terrance Broadway having two more years, I could see myself playing in that offense."
Walker, Louisiana is not to far from Baton Rouge and Perkins had heard of Broadway's play at Capitol High growing up.
"Coming up, I heard about him while he was playing at Capitol High," Perkins stated. "I knew he went on to sign with
Houston
out of high school, but I had never seen him play. Terrance Broadway is the real deal, he is legit. I would love to play with him over the next two years."
Perkins is currently holding offers from UL,
Memphis
,
North Texas
and
Minnesota
but may return to Lafayette this weekend.
"I'm not sure, but I may go back to ULL this weekend," said Carlton. "I don't have any other plans at this time, so I will see what happens this weekend. I thought about going to
Ole Miss
this weekend, but I haven't spoken to anyone from up there about attending the game."
Carlton Perkins stated that he currently holds a 3.2 GPA and an ACT score of 17. He plans on taking the ACT test one more time after completing a prep course on preparing for the test.
