Webb Patient After Picking Up Offer

Webb Patient After Picking Up Offer

Terrish Webb--a Kent State commit--picked up an offer from Pittsburgh Saturday. He gives us an update; talking about where things stand.

Terrish Webb is still a Kent State commit. That may change after Webb picked up an offer from Pittsburgh on Saturday morning.

Friday afternoon, Clairton won its fifth consecutive WPIAL championship, and 60th consecutive game dating back to September of 2009.

In that game, Webb stole the show--finishing with 4 catches for 99 yards, with touchdown receptions of 22 and 24. On defense, Webb had two tackles and a pass breakup.

It might seem tough for Webb to squeeze in a couple big plays with players like Tyler Boyd and Titus Howard also on the roster. Boyd rushed for 144 yards in the same game, with two touchdowns. Howard caught 3 passes for 50 yards and a touchdown. Then again, this is a good example of why Clairton has won 60 games in a row.

His performance impressed the Pitt coaches enough, that they wanted to offer him--knowing he is still committed to Kent State. I fact, head coach Paul Chryst made the call himself, just hours before Pitt kicked off with Rutgers on Saturday.

"They called me Saturday morning, I talked to Coach Chryst," Webb said. "It was all, just pretty exciting; we just won a championship, too."

Webb added that despite being committed, Pitt is an offer he's wanted from the start.

"It was unexpected," Webb added.

Webb is going to be patient. While excited over the Pitt offer, he isn't going to go rushing into flipping his commitment. His team is now chasing another state championship, starting Friday with a PIAA quarterfinal game against Berlin-Brothersvalley at Somerset High School, Friday at 7 pm. Webb plans to take official visits to both schools, once the season is done.

"I'm just going to think about, talk to my mom about it, before I make my final decision, but yes, I'm going to take my official visits," Webb said.

He also talked about why he likes both schools.

"I like the (Pitt) coaches a lot, their coaches are pretty cool," Webb said. "It's a laid back atmosphere. One of my teammates (Kevin Weatherspoon) is there. I have some other teammates there too."

"Kent State, I liked it when I first got there," Webb said. "It's a real nice atmosphere. The coaches made it feel Iike home."
