For Lake High (Ind.) running back David Yancey -- it's been a long and confusing weekend.
Saturday, Yancey visited Purdue for their final regular season game. And Sunday, he learned of Danny Hope's firing.
"I am overwhelmed because I was just at the Indiana game yesterday, so its still sinking in," Yancey said of the news.
Regardless of the situation, Yancey enjoyed the game against Indiana.
"I have been there for nearly every home game," Yancey said. "And yesterday was one of the most exciting games of the season."
He added, "There were a lot of people there and Purdue really played well, it was a great visit overall with good energy. There were a lot of commits there as well, so it was a great visit overall."
And with Yancey's scheduled official visit to Purdue quickly approaching, he isn't quite sure what to make of the timing.
"I was planning on taking my official December 8th, but I don't know now," Yancey said. "I am still going to try to take my official to Purdue, I am still committed to Purdue right now."
His commitment, although solid right now, depends on who Purdue brings in to take the helm.
"I still want to see what coach comes in for this year," Yancey said. "As of right now I am still committed but I will be looking at other teams as well."
Some of the others that have remained in contact with Yancey?
As for the Purdue class of 2013? Yancey has spoken with several about the change.
"I talked to all the commits really, and I think right now that Kyle Shortridge already decommitted," Yancey said. "And I talked to Keyante Green, Danny Etling, and Myles Norwood and John Strauser and the rest of the commits -- most of them are remaining committed right now."
