Gilman's Championship Performance

Baltimore, MD - Gilman's elite put on a championship performance Saturday to cap its second consecutive MIAA A Conference Title.

Gilman defeated Calvert Hall 35-7 for its second-straight conference championship Saturday thanks to stellar performances from quarterback Shane Cockerille, Henry Poggi, Micah Kiser, and Melvin Keihn.

Shane, a Maryland commit, rushed for 236-yards on 26 carries for two touchdowns. The signal-caller holds an impressive 1,305 rushing yards and 1,107 passing yards on the season including 15 rushing touchdowns and seven passing touchdowns. This marks his second consecutive 1,000 rushing and passing yard season.

Defensive tackle Henry Poggi (a Michigan commit) caught a 3rd quarter touchdown pass as tight end, and also showed his teeth on defense with 2.5 sacks. Poggi finished the season with 13.5 sacks.

Virginia linebacker commit Micah Kiser led Gilman in tackles with 101, and came up with two big pass deflections in the championship game. He has four interceptions on the year.

Junior playmakers Melvin Keihn and Troy Vincent Jr. had an impressive championship performance. Melvin recorded two sacks and was in Calvert Hall's backfield all night. He finished with 13 sacks on the season. Troy was a shutdown corner. He did not have one pass completed in his direction all night.

Junior Chibuzo Ukandu was aggressive on the offensive line and helped the team rush for 365-yards for four touchdowns.

Gilman lead 28-0 before Calvert Hall Scored a 4th quarter touchdown to close the margin to 28-7. Wyatt Dickerson, (looking at Ivy Schools- Cornell and Dartmouth) ran for the final touchdown on the night. Dickerson had two touchdowns in the 35-7 championship win.
