Kentucky's Archie Goodwin has been named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists in wins over Morehead State and LIU-Brooklyn.

For the third time in the young season, a Kentucky player has been honored by the Southeastern Conference.

Archie Goodwin is the latest honoree. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday by league office after averaging 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists last week in wins over Morehead State and LIU-Brooklyn.

Goodwin tallied a career-high 28 points in the 81-70 win over Morehead State on Wednesday. That marked the seventh highest scoring figure for a UK freshman in program history. The Arkansas native followed that with a near-triple double against LIU-Brooklyn on Friday, posting 22 points, nine assists and nine rebounds in a 104-75 win by the No. 8 Wildcats.

Earlier this season, Kyle Wiltjer was named SEC Player of the Week and Alex Poythress was named SEC Freshman of the Week.

Kentucky (4-1) returns to action Thursday in the SEC/Big East Challenge, facing Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on espn2.
