The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder is one of the best freshmen in the state of Kentucky. He helped Lone Oak reach an 8-4 record this year playing a little bit all over the field. But he excelled at times playing quarterback.
"I think I did better at quarterback," said Hughes. "I feel like I could have done better, but I did fine," he said.
For the season, Hughes threw for 1253 yards and 14 touchdowns with only five interceptions. He also rushed for 390 yards and nine more touchdowns. If that's not enough, he caught ten balls for 181 yards and another touchdown. Hughes also picked up four interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.
Being that he's a freshman, he's still not getting the college attention that he'll begin to receive in the next year or so.
Hughes believes he had his most memorable game against Franklin Simpson in the playoffs. He threw one pass for 49 yards and a touchdown. He caught a pass for 18 yards and he rushed nine times for 146 and three touchdowns.
"My most memorable game was when I scored four touchdowns against (Franklin-Simpson)," Hughes remembered.
