Air Force went on the road to face a tough University of Colorado team ranked No. 23 at tipoff. The Falcons battled in front of a near sold at crowd at the Coors Event Center in Boulder, Colo., and had them holding their breath for 30 minutes of play. Air Force went into the locker room at halftime only down by two and kept it within six points until the 10 minute mark where the Buffs pulled away for a fifteen point victory, 84-79. Air Force contended with CU's size and speed on defense by using excellent shooting from three point range but a huge deficit on the boards resulted in being out rebounded 45-17 and the subsequent loss. Mike Lyons led the Falcons with 20 points followed by Todd Fletcher with 18. Colorado moved up to No. 19 in the national rankings after the win.
In the second game of the week, the Falcons returned home to face Jackson State (0-3) on Wednesday to get back into the win column. While Air Force started off slow, missing their first three shots, they quickly found the bottom of the net scoring both inside and from three point range en-route to a 76-47 victory. Air Force fixed their rebounding woes with a convincing 40-22 advantage on the boards in the win. Three finished in double figures with Todd Fletcher leading the way with a career 20 high points along with Mike Lyons 14 and Mike Fitzgerald with 14 points.
The Falcons stay at home with a tough matchup with Wichita State (7-0) in the MWC vs MVC Challenge. Tipoff is at 3 pm MDT on Sunday, December 2nd.
