Fort Thomas Highlands set a new state record with a sixth consecutive state title, beating Collins 47-0 to win the Class 4-A state title. The Bluebirds now have a record 22 state titles overall, one more than Trinity High School, which plays on Saturday.

WRAP-UP: Highlands scored on five of six possessions in the first half and rolled to a 33-0 lead, getting two more TDs and a running clock in the second half. The Bluebirds had three running backs amass 96 yards or more in the game.

KEY PLAY: The Bluebirds overcame some adversity, starting the game with two straight TDs despite missing coach Dale Mueller. The veteran coach was in New York after the death of his mother.

MVPs: Quarterback Donovan McCoy did it all for Highlands. He completed 10 of 15 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing 15 times for 105 yards and two TDs. He accounted for 54 TDs on the season.

STAT LINE: The Bluebirds accumulated 476 total yards, including 323 on the ground, while Collins had 173 – averaging just 2.7 yards a carry.
