Golden to visit OL this week

This talented offensive line prospect says he's expecting to receive an in-home visit from Miami coach Al Golden this week. Read on for what he's saying about that, his interest in the Canes, and more.

Hunter Knighton is one of the top offensive line prospects in the state of New Jersey this season and his senior year at The Hun School was cut short due to the recent hurricane. He talked about it.

"We only had six games this year, because after Sandy they shut everything down," Knighton said. "We went 3-3 but personally I feel like I improved a lot on my game, especially after watching my junior tapes and talking to coaches I worked hard on improving."

Knighton, 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds, has become a major recruiting prospect this year and he's being heavily recruited by a few programs.

"Everyday I get something from Miami and Boise State, and Purdue and Boston College talk to me a lot too. I went to BC in September for a visit, and I also visited Boise State and Purdue."

Knighton talked about his experience on those three trips.

BC - "My best friend plays running back for them, he loves it, we're similar so I figured I'd like it. The visit went good I liked it there a lot."

Boise State- "They offered me during the season, and I was really happy about, I had a great experience with visiting them. I've never been to that part of the country so I really liked the area and the guys on the team."

Purdue - "That was always my number one school. Academically it's great, they have great traditions there also. I like their coaches and the campus atmosphere."

Miami is next up on his visit schedule -- he'll be in town this coming weekend. He talked about his interest in the Canes.

"I went down to Miami over the summer and earned an offer at their camp," he said. "I really like it there. The coaches are great and everything seems nice. I'm excited to get back down there and see it again."

Knighton says he expects to receive an in-home visit this week from UM's head coach.

"Coach Golden is coming up this week," he said. "I'm real excited about that."

Finally, the offensive lineman talked about what he'll be looking for when choosing a school.

"First thing, I want to be where I fit in with the guys on the team. I also want to have the gut feeling you get being around the coaches and campus that feels like that place is really for me."
