‘Dogs Roll San Diego Christian

FRESNO, CA – Fresno State defeated San Diego Christian 84-49 Thursday night at the Save Mart Center. The Bulldogs forced 18 steals, one short of the school record, and had four players in double figures, highlighted by Jerry Brown's 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals…

On the game's opening possession, a steal by Tanner Giddings led to a fast break dunk by Kevin Olekaibe. It would be the first of 18 steals for Fresno State. The Bulldogs forced San Diego Christian into 27 turnovers and took advantage, converting them into 38 points. Jerry Brown led the effort with four steals off the bench.

"Jerry came into the game and really changed the game with his energy, his defense, and his force," said Fresno State head coach Rodney Terry. "He also had great opportunities of rebounding. He changed the game and was the difference in the game tonight."

With 15:02 remaining in the game, Aaron Anderson inbounded from the baseline to Tyler Johnson for a wide open dunk to push the Bulldogs lead back to double digits. The play sparked a stretch of over 10 minutes in which the Bulldogs outscored the Hawks 33-to-7 to widen the gap to 35 points.

The Bulldogs maintained the margin for a 35-point win, the largest margin of victory for Coach Terry.

Allen Huddleston led the Bulldogs with 13 points. Brown, Marvelle Harris and Tyler Johnson all had double-digit scoring nights. Every Bulldog that played scored except for Kevin Foster who played just five minutes. Despite Foster's diminished role in recent games, Terry expects to bring him back in the rotation against upcoming Pac-12 opponents.

"We wanted to give some other guys some experience right now and opportunities," Terry said. "No doubt in my mind that Kevin Foster will play his way back in. We'll need Kevin. Players dictate how much they play."

Fresno State improves to 5-3 on the season and will face Pac-12 opponents in three of their next four games. The stretch begins at Washington State on Sunday at noon PST.
