Two New Offers for Montegut

FOX Sports NEXT is in the streets this fall to bring you all the coverage from across the Midlands region. Recently, we caught up with La Marque linebacker Lawrence Montegut from Texas after he had a solid week on the recruiting trail…

Throughout the process La Marque (TX) linebacker Lawrence Montegut has been getting some attention from lots of Division I programs.

But this past week he not only got a couple more offers, but was able to secure a visit to a Pac-12 program as well.

"Thursday the coach from Colorado came down to let me know I had an offer. After that, the defensive end coach at Stephen F. Austin told me I had an offer as well," Montegut said.

Not a bad day for the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Montegut, who finished the season with over 80 tackles and an eye-popping 17 sacks. Not long after the offer from Buffs, Montegut was able to get an official visit finalized for the weekend of January 18-20.

In addition to his big Thursday, Montegut said that Oregon State is starting to show plenty of interest and said that the coaches are possibly looking to extend an offer.

"I'm feeling pretty good about where things are," Montegut said.

Montegut said that most schools want him as an outside linebacker. But some coaches do see him as a defensive end/edge rusher type.
