The move was sparked by Florida’s win at Florida State last Wednesday. The Gators secured a 72-47 win in Tallahassee in a game that was a blowout from the opening tip. Florida jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the first five minutes of the game and continued to stretch the lead out during the game.
The Gators are averaging a 25.3-point margin in their first seven games this season. Senior Kenny Boynton leads the team with 14.4 points per game. Erik Murphy (11.9), Mike Rosario (11.4) and Patric Young (10.3) are also in double figures this season.
The defense continues to be the strength of the team. The Gators are allowing 48.3 points per game, the second fewest in the country.
Florida will face its biggest test of the non-conference schedule on Saturday. The Gators will travel to face No. 8 Arizona on Saturday at 10 p.m. EST.
