Defensive tackle JaQuarius Scott is the lone representative for the Meridian Wildcats in this year's Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game. Scott plays with a big heart and he hopes that his style of play will transition over to the next level.

"It's a great honor to be the only one from Meridian to get here," said Scott. "I have to give all of the credit to my coaches and my teammates.

"They all helped me get here."

Scott is used to competing against some of the state's top talent in Mississippi's 6A classification, but this week has been special.

"This is a great experience," smiled Scott. "I am playing with two of the best defensive linemen in the state, Chris Jones and Dylan Bradley.

"I am going against all of the best offensive lineman in the state.

"It's just been great."

Scott reports that the big guys up front on defense spend a lot of time together on and off the field.

"The defensive line has really gelled together," explained Scott. "It's not just about one person with us.

"We are a unit, like a family."

Several schools have shown some measure of interest in the hard charging defensive tackle.

"I have talked to Scooba (East Mississippi), Miles, Alabama State, Tuskeegee, Gulf Coast and a few other schools," explained Scott.

"I know I am going to be somewhere next year."
