There are a lot of talented running backs in the nation. You can go to Scout.com and watch video of the ten most talented and most of the time you see guys who are very fast, have good size and good quickness. Thomas has those same qualities, but what sets him apart from the others is his effort and never quit attitude. He is one of the most difficult running backs to take down to the ground due to that effort and attitude.
"I guess it is like a natural instinct to not to want to go down, just try to fight for extra yards every play," said Thomas, who is rated the 5th best running back in the class of 2014 by Scout.com/FoxSportsNext.com. "I know I'm eventually going to (be tackled) but I'm going to give them a hard time when they are trying to tackle me."
It's also more than just natural instinct.
"I think it is (my) balance, speed and power all put together," said the Scout.com/FoxSportsNext.com 4-star talent.
That combination is what every college coach in America is looking for. And that's the reason so many have shown interest in him.
"It's really most of the southeast (schools) and some schools like Oregon, Arizona, USC, Boise State, Notre Dame, teams like that," said Thomas, when asked who is showing interest in him.
Most of those same schools have already offered scholarships, something that Thomas doesn't take lightly.
"It's great knowing I have so many offers because I know my parents won't have to pay for my education," he said.
As for which schools he's interested in, at one time it was thought that he was about to commit to Alabama. Thomas explained why people thought that.
"At first, I said Alabama was my favorite," he said. "And everybody took that to mean that I was about to commit to them."
While he's not quite ready to commit, he does have an idea what he is looking for in a college.
"I do want to go to a place that is close to home because it will make it easy for my family to make it up there (and see me play)," said Thomas. "All of my family stay in areas like Georgia and Alabama. Nobody stays outside of that."
Close to home can mean different things to different people. Thomas, who lives in Oxford, Alabama, explained what he means by close to home.
"Any surrounding states is good, states like Florida and Georgia," he said. "They aren't too far away."
As of now, Thomas doesn't have a timeframe when he will commit.
"My dad and I talk about it all the time, but he told me to do it whenever I wanted too," said Thomas.
