Perfect fit for Porter
San Diego State commit Brandon Porter is confident he made the right choice. "I really can't wait until July 15th when I report for school," he said. "The staff is excited about getting a player from down south, and they're ready to get to work with me." Porter described the weekend's events. "Kendrick Mathis was an amazing host," he said. "He's a very cool guy from California. He's from a town about three hours away from San Diego. "Each of us was assigned a host and that was a real fun part. We went to a basketball game and that was fun. The recruits are nice people and the football players on the team are nice people." Some of the current Aztecs played a big role in making Porter comfortable with his decision. "I had some questions for the players and they told me what's really going on," he said. "They answered my questions and were honest with me. "I was around the campus, the city and the overall scene. I saw a lot more than I did this summer, and I got to know the ones I'm going to be playing with at San Diego State." Porter played safety and running back - mostly DB - during his career at John Curtis. He's open to either side of the ball in college and hopes to get a shot at RB. The New Orleans native committed to the Aztecs and secondary coach Tony White at the conclusion of an early August visit.
