"I'm committed right now to Ohio University," 2013 DT Tony Porter said. "I [made my commitment] late in the summer; the first of July. The decision came after talking to the coaches and getting a feel for them."
Although his verbal commitment has been made, Porter is open to other offers and has even taken an official visit to Miami of Ohio.
"I like the education part of it," Porter said of his official visit. "I like the cleanliness of the campus. [I also like] the overall feeling of the environment and the coaches."
Porter has also taken his official visit to his future home at Ohio.
"It was everything I expected," he said of the trip. "I felt like I made a good choice once I was up there I got the feeling that I was heading to a good school."
Porter is also being recruited by Tennessee State, UT Chattanooga and Samford.
"I don't know if I'm going to take any more official visits, but I'm undecided," Porter explained. "I'd consider it. It would probably be to either [Tennessee State or UT Chattanooga]."
So, which school could change Porter's mind?
"Anybody just a little closer to home," he admitted. "That's the biggest thing right now. It doesn't really matter in particular. [I just want] the ability for my family to come see me play."
Although his high school career is over, Porter will play again on Friday, December 21st as a Gwinnett County (GA) All-Star selection.
