Name: Charles Okonkwo
School: Summit (Calif.)
Size: 6-1, 180-pounds
Recruitment: Boise State, Army, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, San Diego State, Utah State
Scout's take: Looking at his tangibles, Okonkwo has long arms that he uses to his advantage on the field. He does a great job of holding a blocker while keeping his off hand free to make a tackle, which makes him a very effective tackler in the run game in tight spaces. He also shows good ability to tackle in open space. He's patient, sees his opportunity, attacks and wraps up well. A trait that any coach would love to have in a cornerback at the next level.
Whether it's scheme related or due to his comfort level, he doesn't play a lot of press coverage at the line of scrimmage in the film. For me, this means his technique needs improvement. At the next level the receivers are bigger, stronger and faster, meaning his cushion can be ate up quicker and they attack the ball harder. With added weight and more experience, his ability to be more physical at the line should improve.
