Dominican Winter League

On the verge of a postseason berth, Nelson Cruz’s Cibao club dropped a 5-4 decision to Licey on Wednesday. Cruz batted third and went 0-for-3 with a walk, striking out twice.

Licey’s Engel Beltre singled once and struck out twice in four at-bats, holding his average steady at .256.

Venezuelan Winter League

Submarining reliever Ben Rowen fanned two batters in a scoreless seventh inning for Caracas. He allowed one hit and threw nine of his 13 pitches for a strike.

Aragua’s Yangervis Solarte singled once and walked twice in five plate appearances.

Elvis Andrus got his batting average above the Mendoza line for the first time this winterball campaign after going2-for-5 with a pair of RBI. He also committed a fielding error, his third.

Mexican Pacific League

Jose Felix got the start behind the plate for Guasave on Wednesday and went 0-for-3, dropping his average to .304.

Puerto Rican Winter League

Caguas second baseman Janluis Castro got the start in the nightcap of his club’s doubleheader. He went 0-for-1 but was hit by a pitch and also stole a base.

Ponce catcher Zach Zaneski saw his average dip to .185 after he went hitless in four at-bats. Jared Hoying appeared as a late-game defensive replacement in right field and was 0-for-1.
