Williams winds down recruitment

Archbishop Spaulding (MD) defensive tackle Mike Williams took the field in the annual Chesapeake Bowl where he told us he is winding down the process, eyeing two.

"It's been fun - I met a lot of great guys I have never seen before and this is an opportunity to show what I can do," said defensive tackle Mike Williams about being selected to play in the mid-atlantic region prestigious Chesapeake Bowl.

Williams is one of few participants who has yet to select a college destination. He was originally committed to Maryland, but the Terps dropped the offer because of reasons Williams did not want to discuss.

"With everything that happened in the beginning, a lot of schools falling off and stuff, I am forced to wait until the end of the recruiting process," he said. So right now it's down to two: Villanova and Boston College.

"Those are the only schools that have offered me as of now, but they both are great schools. Villanova is a great school - a small school - but it doesn't matter as far as the size. I just want to go wherever I can get the help I need to stay focused and do what I am supposed to do on and off the field."

Williams will take his official visit to Villanova in January. He has recently returned from an official visit to Boston College. "Boston College give a lot of help to students and athletes, and I like their facilities. The football facility is combined with academics, its all one, so you don't have to go anywhere."

Williams will announce his decision come National Signing Day. Stay tuned.
