Feeley Gaining Momentum

The new Eagle staff is working hard to shore up the class of 2013. One in-state lineman gaining some interest talks with GoldenEaglePride.com today about his recruitment and what lies ahead for him.

Jacob Feeley is the center for Picayune who had an outstanding senior season. He has heard from virtually every JuCo in the state, but there is one school that tops his list, Southern Miss.

He gives us the update on the latest.

"Well right now its a dead period for Division One, so I'm talking with the same Junior Colleges, mostly Gulf Coast and East Mississippi," he said. "I have offers from all of them.

"I started hearing from the new coaching staff at Southern Miss."

He said the program in Hattiesburg has been one he's been serious about for a long time.

"I'd like to go there," he said. "When Coach Fedora and them were there, I went to their camps since 7th grade. I had worked my way up in their eyes, and got the best offensive lineman award a couple of times.

"I really got to know them and they said they'd have their eye on me. Hopefully that will hold on and bode well for me in the future."

Feeley describes himself as one with a bit of a mean streak on the field.

"I would just say that I am never satisfied with everything in life," he said. "I'm always working and trying to get better. I play to the whistle blows, and I have toughness and a meanness on the field.

"The coaches see me as a center at the next level, but I can also play guard."

Feeley said he doesn't have any visits officially set, but he does plan on visiting Southern Miss.

"I'm going to keep working, and keep hoping that things will work out with Southern Miss," he said. "Whatever the case, I'm ready to play football at the next level."
