NMSU Downs UTSA, 82-62

It was cold and snowy outside the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, NM on Wednesday evening as UTSA took on New Mexico State during the second week of WAC play began.

NMSU offset the cold weather conditions outside with a red hot shooting performance. The Aggies shot a blistering 77% from the field in the 2nd half as NMSU downed UTSA 82-62.

This is the 2nd loss in a row and 7th loss in 8 games for UTSA, who now falls to 4-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Despite Jeromie Hlll being relegated to the bench with 2 early fouls, UTSA played an extremely competitive first half. The game was actually tied at 32-32 just before halftime. But NMSU used an 18-0 at the end for the first half and beginning of the 2nd half to take control.

The UTSA Big Three (Kannon Burrage, Michael Hale III, and Jeromie Hill) combined for just 38 points on the evening. As a team, UTSA shot 42% from the field.

Bandja Sy scored a team high 25 points for NMSU, who shot 69% from the field on the night. The Aggies scored 48 points in the paint and tied a school record with 12 blocks.

UTSA travels to Denver to face the Pioneers on Sunday at 3pm before returning to San Antonio for a 3 game homestand.
