Two visits on tap for Kirkland

Offensive lineman Denver Kirkland has enjoyed competing against the nation's best at practice for the Under Armour All-American Game. Once the 2013 athlete is finished with the UA activities, he has two official visits on his calendar to look forward to. Get the latest on Kirkland right here.

Denver Kirkland has already taken officials to Ole Miss and Florida State. Up next, he'll see South Florida on January 11th and Miami on January 18th. The Booker T. (Miami, FL) standout is looking forward to learning more about each program on his visits.

"(At USF, I'm looking forward to) getting a better bond with the coaches, seeing the class sizes, seeing the facility and the football program," he said.

"(Miami,) that's already a private school, so that's one thing I'm looking into. I just need a better bond with the coaches and the football team."

The 6-foot-5, 325-pound lineman says he still has no leaders, but "trust and loyalty" will separate the final school from the others.

"(I want) a staff that's going to take care of me and really be with me through hard times and good times," he said.

There's been some speculation that he and Booker T. teammate, linebacker Matthew Thomas, may end up at the same school. Thomas is looking at Florida State, Alabama, Miami, USC, and Georgia. Kirkland says there's a 75% chance they stick together.

"I just tell people don't be surprised, it might happen," he said.

Kirkland has gotten to match up against some of the nation's best this week at practice for the Under Armour All-American Game. He's been most impressed with defensive ends Robert Nkemdiche and Elijah Daniel.

"The thing I've enjoyed the most is the better competition and competing," Kirkland said.
