Syracuse wins a tight contest in Rhode Island. See the recap inside.

The Syracuse Orange men's basketball team had a true test on the road versus the Providence Friars.

Despite the Friars entering the game 0-2 in the Big East Conference, they battled from the beginning, in a seesaw-type match.

Providence took the lead before the half, heading into the break 33-30 after having a successful first half from beyond the arc.

In the second half, Syracuse pushed to restore the lead on their end, but Providence would not lay down for a moment.

But, the Orange were too much inside, winning their second-consecutive road game by the score of 72-66.

Four Syracuse players ended in double-figures in points, with junior forward C.J. Fair leading all Orange with 23 to go with his 11 rebounds for a double-double.

Guards Michael Carter-Williams and Brandon Triche combined for 11 assists.

Syracuse improved to 15-1 overall and remain in the lead in the Big East at 3-0.
