Farrar has local leader

ATH Jeff Farrar

One of the state's best two-way performers is Upland (Calif.) junior Jeff Farrar. Farrar had a solid performance at the recent Army Combine and talked about his most recent scholarship offer.

Jeff Farrar played at Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany as a sophomore but transferred last summer to Upland and had a very good junior season. Farrar was known as a receiver prospect prior to last year but played corner all season for Upland and earned all-league honors.

"I worked out with the receivers at the combine," Farrar said following the event. "I love receiver and I just wanted to show people what I could do on that side of the ball since it has been a year since I played there.

"I like corner too and really don't have a preference between the two positions. Every school is recruiting me as an athlete and I'll play on either side of the ball. I just love football and I'll play wherever the team needs me. Whatever gets me on the field the fastest is where I want to play."

Farrar said he clocked a 4.8-40 (electronic), 4.1 shuttle and jumped 35 inches in the vertical.

"I wasn't happy with my 40 time but I was happy with my other marks," Jeff Farrar said. "Overall, it was a great event for me and I was really happy with how I did. I'm going to be working hard this off-season, playing in some passing tournaments with Body By Tra and just trying to get better.

"UCLA is my top school and I have a good relationship with Coach Martin. I really like what Coach Mora is doing there. In just one year with the same players that were there before, he won nine games and changed the program around. That's the kind of program I want to be a part of.

"Utah just offered too and I'm also hearing from several other schools including Arizona State, Oregon, Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida State, Virginia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and a few others. I don't plan on going to any college camps right now because I'm pretty dialed in with UCLA and that's where I see myself going."
