"We had a great visit," said Hoefeld, who is ranked ninth nationwide at his position.
"Coach arrived at Brother Martin at 2:00 P.M. and left at 5:00 P.M. We talked about general stuff. He asked how I've been doing and we talked about life. We threw the football in the hall because of the rain outside, and then Coach Trickett had me snap the ball."
Hoefeld will be a converted center in college after starring at offensive tackle for the Crusaders.
"I was snapping the ball pretty good," the first-team all-state selection said. "Coach was impressed. He added steps as I showed I was grasping things."
Trickett gave Hoefeld some homework.
"He said I'll have a leg up by continuing to practice the snaps," Hoefeld said. "He said we will be 'pretty serious' on the o-line next season at FSU, and that we'll have a dangerous team.
"He could tell I've gained good weight from working out and was pleased by that."
The Seminoles are coming off an easy BCS bowl win with a sunny future on the horizon.
"Coach said we could be even better next year," Hoefeld related.
The 6-3, 265-pounder will take his official visit to FSU later this month. He says Trickett will make a return trip to New Orleans later this month.
"It was a great time to see him," Hoefeld continued. "The father of one of my close friends passed away, and coach helped bring my spirits up.
