Manatee DE to visit Jax

Bradenton Manatee defensive end Marquis Dawsey will visit Jacksonville this weekend.

Marquis Dawsey (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee) will make his first official visit this weekend, according to Manatee quarterback coach Chris Convoy.

"He will make a visit to Jacksonville (1-18) this weekend," Convoy said. "Ferris State is another team showing interest. He has a teammate there. Idaho came by last week and they are the one D1 school that could do something with him."

Dawsey had 58 career starts at powerhouse Manatee. That's tough to do and an impressive number. He plays alongside D1 defensive linemen like Derrick Calloway, Blake Keller and junior standout DeMarcus Christmas. Dawsey has one issue – he's height. He stands 5-foot-11 and 230-pounds.

"He's the same size as some NFL players," Convoy said. "But all these colleges are looking for taller defensive ends."
