A Battle for Christian Morris

Christian Morris

Memphis (Tenn.) East offensive lineman Christian Morris canceled his scheduled official visit to Ole Miss last weekend and said he's now focusing on two schools...

Christian Morris committed to UCLA last July over Nebraska and Tennessee. Although the Vols had given him an early offer, they had backed off Morris a bit towards the end of the summer and his commitment to UCLA came as little surprise.

Fast forward several months and the Vols are now a major player in Morris' recruitment. The big tackle took an official visit to Knoxville two weeks ago and said he doesn't plan to make a final decision until Signing Day.

"I'm still committed to UCLA but I'm still trying to figure out some things between UCLA and UT. I can say I'm leaning pretty strong one way and the coaches know what I plan to do but I'm going to wait until Signing Day to make the announcement official.

"With Tennessee, I grew up a big fan and I like the new coaching staff a lot. They're coming after me hard and I like how aggressive they're recruiting me. They really want to try and rebuild the program back up and they told me they want me to be a big part of that."

As for UCLA, Morris said he's very close with the Bruins coaching staff and especially OL coach, Adrian Klemm.

"Coach Klemm is actually coming out to my school today and then he's staying for my basketball game," Morris said. "Coach Mora and Coach Klemm will be back next Monday for a home visit and I'm looking forward to that. Coach Jones from Tennessee will be over tomorrow for a home visit and I'm excited for that as well.

"Location won't play a factor for me. I'm getting a lot of hometown pressure to stay home but that won't play a role. My two biggest goals are to get a great education and play in the NFL. So whoever I feel has the best chance to meet those goals, that's where I'll be going to school next fall."
