Versatile Back on UTSA's Radar

UTSA coaches are knee deep in working to complete the 2013 recruiting cycle. But with Junior Day just around the corner, Roadrunner staff is also busy evaluating 2014 prospects. InsideRunnerSports has confirmed a Houston area target at the running back position that will be camping with UTSA.

Junior Day for utsa is set for Saturday, February 16 and Roadrunner staff is working diligently getting those invites out. IRS has confirmed that running back Kaliq Kokuma from Clear Creek HS in League City, TX will be in attendance.

"UTSA is a good college," said Kokuma. "They're trying to take football to the next level. I think they would be a good fit for me."

Still very early in the 2014 recruiting cycle, Kokuma has yet to receive an offer. But that doesn't mean schools aren't looking. Northwestern has been in consistent contact with Kokuma since his Sophomore year. UTSA and Texas State are both showing heavy interest as well.

"The quality of education I will be receiving is very important to me," said Kokuma. "It's also important that I fit into the offensive scheme. The coaching staff is also going to be important to me."

Kokuma is a versatile back. Listed at 6'0" and 185 lbs, Kaliq is also a speedster running a 4.47 - 40.

"I'm more of a speed running back," said Kokuma. "I have the ability to run over you if I have to but I'll beat you with speed more often. I love a fast/spread offensive.

In spread offense attack that did not consistently rush the ball, in 2012 Kokuma amassed 1,100 yards rushing, 400 yards receiving with 16 rushing touchdowns and 7 receiving touchdowns.

Note: Kokuma is also scheduled to attend Texas State's Junior Day which is set for the day after UTSA's (Sunday, February 17). Kokuma camped at the University of Houston in the summer of 2012 and was unable to attend a visit to Northwestern late in 2012 but is planning on making a trip Illinois.
