Latest on Cali DB David Price

Long Beach Poly (Calif.) defensive back David Price has been kind of the forgotten safety out west but he's still drawing interest from a handful of college programs.

Following his junior season and heading in to the spring evaluation period a year ago, David Price was being talked about as one of the elite safeties out west and on par with current national top 150 guys like Tahaan Goodman, Hatari Byrd and Tyler Foreman.

Unfortunately Price was injured the last half of the summer and missed the start of his senior season. It took him a while to get rolling on the field and his recruitment definitely slipped behind the aforementioned safeties.

Price still had early scholarship offers from schools like Arizona, Colorado, Fresno State, New Mexico State and San Jose State. The safety focused on getting healthy and his senior season and put his recruitment on the backburner. The Jackrabbits made a huge run and played all the way into the middle of December qualifying for the Div I State Championship game.

Price is now turning his attention to recruiting and has a couple of in-state schools on his short list.

"I have a visit set with San Jose State next weekend (Feb. 2)," Price said. "I'm also talking with Califonria, they just came to my school yesterday and they want to trip me in too. They haven't offered yet but it sounds like it could happen pretty soon. I'm playing in the West Coast Bowl this weekend so that's why I'm not visiting anywhere this coming week.

"I know Signing Day is coming up fast so if I take that visit to Cal, it might have to be a mid-week trip. I for sure plan to take, I have a lot of interest and it would be a good fit so if I have to move some things around, I'll do it. Right now, I'm open minded to everyone who's recruiting me and I think I'll make my decision around Signing Day."
