Walter Brantley had a breakout season at Hampton (Va.) Phoebus last season. Not surprisingly, the 2014 defensive tackle has gotten the attention of some big-time college coaching staffs.

After performing extremely well on both sides of the ball last season, Walter Brantley is starting to attract more interest from college coaches.

"I've been hearing from West Virginia, Tennessee, and Temple," Brantley said. "Tennessee is really interested. Those are the main three schools right now. I've also gotten some stuff from Michigan and Duke. "

Brantley said he is planning to go to junior day at West Virginia. Besides the visit to Morgantown, he also mentioned possible trips to Tennessee and Duke.

Two schools have made an impression on the 6-foot-3, 320-pound defensive tackle.

"I would say the schools standing out are West Virginia and Tennessee," he said.

Brantley is working to improve in the offseason and has high goals for his senior season.

"I want to lose a little weight and improve my footwork," said Brantley said. "I really want to help our younger players improve and win a state championship next season."

Phoebus finished the 2012 season with a 12-1 record.
