"It's an honor to be able to represent your state and religion while playing football. It's been nice to get to meet new people," he said.
The 5-foot-10, 205-pound prospect, who says he got faster on the field throughout his senior season, has enjoyed the recruiting process thus far.
Kapeli announced for the Rebels' program last June and recently took his official visit to campus.
"I had a lot of fun on my visit. We got to see the campus, walk around; we ate a lot," he laughed.
Regarding his reasons for choosing UNLV's program, Kapeli said that proximity played a big role.
"My family will get the chance to come out and watch me play. I also really like their coaches; it feels like home," he said.
He is, however, open to taking visits to both Utah and San Diego State. Though he doesn't hold an offer from either program quite yet, both have been showing the back a heightened interest.
"Hopefully, I'll get the chance to visit. I'm just waiting for a call, waiting to see what happens," he said.
