Meet Bry'Kiethon Mouton

The nation is raving about Louisiana's 2014 class, and rightly so, but there's a group of in-state 2015 prospects that are already banging their own drum. Read on to meet Bry'Keithon Mouton, a sophomore DE/TE from Acadiana with a terrific size/speed combination...

There's a jumbo athlete doing big things in the Lafayette area, and his name is Bry'Kiethon Mouton.

Last season, the 6-3, 240-pound sophomore was second among all area receivers (behind only Loreauville WR Rhashid Bonnette) in yards per catch (22.4).

During the regular season, Mouton caught 21 passes for 470 yards and nine touchdowns, according to

Those numbers become more impressive when you consider that Acadiana employs a split-back veer option offense that's largely predicated on the running game.

"My sophomore season went great," Mouton said. "I learned a lot. I play tight end, defensive end, and linebacker. I'd like to play defensive end next year so I can help our defense."

When the game is on the line, Mouton steps up his game.

"I had some big catches in the fourth quarter," he said. "I had around 30 total catches (including playoffs) with 10 touchdowns. I have good strength for my size and run between a 4.5 and 4.6 in the 40-yard dash. I block and catch the ball well."

Acadiana won the Class 5A state title a few years ago. The Wreckin' Rams went 8-3 in 2012 with a second-round playoff appearance.

"Next year I believe we have 16 starters coming back," Mouton said. "We'll have great size and hopefully a great chance to go all the way."

Mouton mentioned four specific schools.

"LSU, Florida State, Alabama and USC are schools of interest," he said. "I've heard Bama is watching and has called Coach (Ted) Davidson about me. Florida State sent a letter inviting me to their camp, and they've also been calling coach."

Mouton is pouring in 20 points per game for Acadiana's basketball team, which owns a three-game win streak after beating Barbe Friday, 64-40.
