Syracuse is nearing completion of their new football coaching staff under head coach Scott Shafer. They have another new coach in the fold as CuseNation.com received confirmation from new commit Alex Hayes that the Orange have a new offensive line coach.
Pat Perles joins the staff, and he spoke with Hayes during his official visit this weekend. Perles helped the Orange land the Georgia offensive lineman.
Perles has extensive experience coaching professionally and in the college ranks. He spent the last three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, the last two as assistant offensive line coach. Prior to that, he spent nine seasons at the college level.
For six seasons from 2003-2008, he was on the North Dakota State staff. The last four seasons Perles served as the offensive coordinator. Prior to that, Perles was the tight ends coach at Michigan State for three seasons. During the 2000 campaign, he was also co-special teams coach.
Prior to his collegiate experience, he spent six seasons in the Canadian Football League after acting as an assistant for the Los Angeles Rams in 1992 and 1993. His coaching career started as defensive line coach for the Toledo Rockets from 1989 through 1991.
