UM Recruiting Scoop: 1/29

Read on for all the latest recruiting news and information surrounding the University of Miami, with complete analysis from CanesTime's Mike Bakas.

* 3-star WR Tyree Harris says the Hurricanes offered him on Sunday. At 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, Harris is one of the top WR prospects in the state of Georgia. He had over a dozen offers when he made an early commitment to Wake Forest. From Marietta, Harris says he remains committed to Wake and doesn't have any plans, as of now, of visiting Miami this weekend. This news can be taken one of two ways -- 1) the coaches aren't sold on landing their top WR target, Stacy Coley, or 2) they like Harris enough that they'd take him, even if Coley decided to come. The second part is probably more realistic right now but either way he's someone to keep an eye on down the stretch.

* Speaking of receivers, 3-star Jordan Cunningham made a visit to Florida State this past weekend. It was his 4th visit, as he'd previously been to Stanford, Oklahoma State, and Vanderbilt. Cunningham still wants to be in Miami's class, but it seems more than ever that it won't happen. He doesn't have an offer, and isn't scheduled to visit here this weekend. He's on the verge of being completely removed from our Big Board.

* 5-star RB Alex Collins will make his commitment live next Monday on the Fox Sports South radio station. It's between Miami and Arkansas. He will make the announcement in-studio. Some have asked if that will prevent Miami's coaches from visiting him but it won't since in-home visits are finished this coming weekend. Despite a strong visit to Arkansas this past weekend, Collins still has a lot of interest in Miami and there's still a good chance he'll be a Hurricane. We'll all know for sure by Monday.

* The head coach of 4-star CB Rashard Robinson told Scout yesterday that Robinson remains firmly committed to LSU. While that may be the case, that's something that Robinson and his coach have been saying since day one. That hasn't prevented him from taking multiple visits to Miami in recent months so the Canes still seem to be hanging in there. It won't be easy but it's not over yet. Robinson is the only remaining un-committed defensive back prospect on the board for the Canes.
