"Johnathan committed to NC State this morning," said Bunn head coach Chris Miller. "Coach Doeren went in-home last night, and they had a great visit. Afterwards Jonathan called me, we talked a lot about it, and this morning he came in and said he wanted to commit to NC State.
"I think he really had a great relationship with coach Doeren, coach Kitchings, and the new coaching staff. It was a big factor for him."
Alston, who made his commitment official Friday morning, visited NC State this past weekend.
"Everything went good," said Alston after the trip. "I enjoyed myself. I mean, it was a blast. Hanging out with the players, Tony Creecy was my host and he's a lot of fun... cool guy who showed me around.
"Plus, I got to go to the basketball game. That was my first time going to a basketball game at State, and the environment was real hyped. I was pumped up... the crowd was into it. I enjoyed it."
The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder was rated the No. 10 prospect in North Carolina by Scout.com, and is ranked a three-star recruit and the No. 30 outside linebacker in the country. However, he is being recruited to play wide receiver by the Wolfpack.
Early in the process he landed offers from NC State, UNC, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Virginia among others before cutting his list to NC State and North Carolina.
Alston, who was scheduled to visit UNC this weekend, will not be taking that trip according to coach Miller.
Pack Pride will have more on Alston's decision in the near future so stay tuned!
