Houston (Texas) Bellaire tailback Denzell Evans' visit to Arkansas started this weekend without a scholarship offer, but he hopes it doesn't end up that way.
Evans (6-0, 205) – a Houston commit - is one of four prospects visiting the Razorbacks Friday through Sunday, but the only one who doesn't have a spot guaranteed in the 2013 recruiting class so far.
"I'm excited to finally be here and I am liking what I am already seeing," Evans said. "They have great facilities and everything is looking nice. I am really excited about this weekend.
"I am feeling real good," Evans added later. "There is a great possibility that after this weekend I will be a Hog."
Arkansas had a home visit with him earlier this week.
"They were me that they have great facilities and that there is great competition every week in practice and game-wise," Evans said. "They just talk about having a great upside with a great coach coming in and that this is the place that I should be at."
He rushed for 825 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior and 2,350 yards and 26 scores in his three years at Bellaire.
"I feel like I have great power in the hole and great vision," Evans said. "You can always correct your whole game because everything is correctable, but I think I have great upside."
He is teammates with Bellaire offensive lineman Dwayne Evans (6-6, 275), who will decide between Arkansas and Nebraska any day now.
"If I come here I think there is a great possibility that he will be here, too," Evans said.
Evans makes it clear why he wants his shot in the SEC.
"Growing up you always here about the SEC being the best conference and you get to play against the best every week," Evans said., "Getting a chance to be a part of that, I just want to."
