Junior film: Austin Chambers
Austin Chambers is hard to miss. At 6-foot-5, 285-pounds, the mammoth Shawnee Mission (KS) West offensive tackle prospect has a tremendous frame to add bulk. He's broad through the shoulders and hips, and doesn't carry much extra weight for a high school junior of his size. Chambers consistently comes off the line of scrimmage low, with good pad level, and fires his hands inside, creating good initial shock against opposing defensive linemen. A natural knee-bender at the tackle spot, Chambers has good flexibility, dropping his hips easily to get under shorter players. What separates Chambers as a prospect is his footwork. A three-year starter on the Vikings varsity basketball team, Chambers possesses very quick feet, seeming to speed-up after contact. He thrives on running his feet through defenders, rolling his hips, and finishing blocks by driving opponents into the ground. He maintains a good, wide base, often overwhelming defenders at the point of attack, and reaches the second level easily with his athleticism. With early offers from Kansas and BYU, Chambers will be among the best prospects in a bumper crop in Kansas for 2014.
