Fuery is Fresno State bound

Not many schools have produced the receiver talent that Gardena (Calif.) Serra has over the last four or five years. This year's top pass catcher was Darrell Fuery and he made his college decision on Sunday.

Darrell Fuery had a very solid senior season catching 33 balls for 615 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has good size and body control, very soft hands and can jump out of the gym. He flew way below the radar but Fresno State made a late offer and picked up a commitment from the receiver on Sunday.

"I had a great visit and really felt comfortable at Fresno State," Fuery said. "I really vibed well with the coaching staff and I love the offense. They run a spread and it's a very friendly offense for a receiver and I think I'll be able to catch a lot of balls.

"I spent a lot of time with WR coach, Ron Antoine and talked with Coach Washington as well. I like Coach DeRuyter a lot too and everyone treated me great there. The players were great with me too and it just felt like a good match for me there."

Fuery said making his decision, especially a few days before Signing Day ends a lot of stress for him.

"This is a big weight off my back," Fuery said. "It's a huge relief and now I can just worry about school and finishing off my last semester strong. I can start getting ready for the summer already and don't have to worry about where I'm going to school next year.

"Fresno is a cool place too. The weather is nice, I liked the campus and they have a lot of good people there. Like I said, it's a great all around fit for me and I'm thrilled to be a Bulldog."
